Harrisburg's O.W.L.
Leaves the Nest
Written By: Dexter Kendrick
“You have to feel the fear and do it anyway” states Jaren Tucker, better known as the Over Weight Lover, on being the first of Harrisburg's Singer's Lounge camp to release solo music since the event's birth in February of 2016. Singing background vocals for other local R&B talent, and periodically wowing standing room only audiences with covers like Erykah Badu's “On&On”, Mr. O.W.L. simply states “It was time”.
The first single released on 4.28.17 from O.W.L.'s forthcoming EP, is a heart-wrenching groove entitled “U Said” and features a duet appearance by another Singer's Lounge background vocalist, Kalen Myers. The song hits deep, beginning with lyrics such as “You said you'd love me for all time/where did it go?” A testament to someone coming to terms with the end of a relationship cycle. “I've lived all of those [heartbreak] moments...depression, sadness. I don't think you ever get over it, but I make peace with it and move on.”
